I am so happy that everyone is feeling better! Let’s hope we can keep the germs out of the house for a bit! It seems with three kiddos someone is always sniffling or not feeling up to par. Luckily, most of the time everyone is feeling better quickly.
My sweet little Abby came home from school crying today. Apparently Abby bumped into her friend’s folder and it fell to the ground. She apologized and picked the folder up, but that wasn’t good enough for her friend who told Abby “We aren’t friends anymore” and then ignored Abby when she tried to talk to her and make things better. Abby was heartbroken. The tears (and snot) were running down her face and she was beside herself that her friend no longer wants to be friends. I felt awful because I didn’t know what I should do. I wanted to get out of the car and have a chat with the kids’ mom about what happened, but I think Abby is at the age where she needs to figure this stuff out on her own (with a bit of guidance from me). So instead of me resolving it with the mom, Abby and I talked about it when we got home. I reminded her how sometimes people say things they don’t mean when they are upset and some people need time before they can accept an apology. If only I could prevent my children from getting their feelings hurt. Unfortunately, I can’t do that so it is up to Scott and I to teach her how to cope with things like this. If it is this hard at 7, what is it going to be like at 17???
